Tenerife Events 2027: The Festival and Fiesta Calendar Month by Month

The headline Tenerife events in 2027 are the Santa Cruz carnival (street carnival 19–28 February, later than usual), Easter Week processions (25–28 March), Corpus Christi in La Orotava and La Laguna (late May to early June), the Noche de San Juan bonfires (23 June) and the Virgen de la Candelaria pilgrimage in mid-August. Below we separate confirmed dates from expected ones: many town fiestas publish programmes only weeks in advance.

Month by month

January

Three Kings (5–6 January): towns hold Cabalgata de Reyes parades on the evening of 5 January, with sweets thrown to children; 6 January is the big gift-giving day and a holiday. Carnival contests begin late in the month in Santa Cruz.

February

Candelaria (2 February) is the island holiday for Tenerife’s patron saint. Santa Cruz carnival dominates the month, with the Queen gala on 17 February and street carnival from 19 to 28 February. Full details in our Santa Cruz carnival guide.

March

Other carnivals: Puerto de la Cruz and Los Cristianos usually hold their carnivals after Santa Cruz’s. In 2026 Los Cristianos’ carnival ran through March. 2027 dates hadn’t been announced at the time of writing. Semana Santa (Holy Week, 21–28 March) brings solemn processions, especially in La Laguna.

April and May

Día de la Cruz (3 May): crosses decorated with flowers in Santa Cruz, Los Realejos and elsewhere; Los Realejos is known for its fireworks around this date. Día de Canarias (30 May): folk music, traditional dress and food events across the island.

June

Corpus Christi: with Corpus Christi on Thursday 27 May 2027, La Laguna’s procession and La Orotava’s famous sand and flower carpets (traditionally a week later) should fall in late May and early June. Check the town halls for confirmed dates. La Orotava’s Romería de San Isidro usually follows. Noche de San Juan (23 June): bonfires, beach gatherings and fireworks in many coastal towns, including Puerto de la Cruz.

July

Fiestas del Carmen: fishing communities honour the Virgen del Carmen around 16 July, with sea processions in Puerto de la Cruz, Los Cristianos and other harbours. Exact days vary by town. Romería de San Benito in La Laguna, one of the island’s largest pilgrimages, has traditionally been held in July.

August

Virgen de la Candelaria (14–15 August): thousands of pilgrims walk overnight to the basilica in Candelaria for the main festival. The public holiday moves to Monday 16 August in 2027. Summer evening events, such as night openings at Siam Park, have been held in July and August in recent years.

September and October

Fiestas del Cristo de La Laguna: traditionally centred on 14 September (programme not yet published), with processions and a large fireworks display. 12 October is Spain’s National Day.

November and December

All Saints (1 November) and the December holidays (6, 8 and 25 December). Christmas lights, nativity scenes and markets appear in Santa Cruz, La Laguna and the resorts from early December. New Year’s Eve celebrations include eating 12 grapes at midnight, with fireworks in the main towns.
