Planning a Stag Do in Tenerife

Updated 29 October 2026 · DoTenerife

Tenerife works well for a stag do because it combines late nights in Playa de las Américas (the Veronicas strip and Starco) with year-round sunshine and a long list of daytime activities, from catamaran boat parties to quad bikes on volcanic tracks. Base yourselves in Playa de las Américas to walk to the bars, and book activities and big nights in advance in peak season.

It is a less full-on party destination than some Mediterranean resorts, which suits groups who want a mix of nights out, sport and a bit of sightseeing. Use what’s on this weekend to see which shows and DJ nights line up with your dates.

Where to stay

BaseProsCons
Playa de las AméricasWalk to Veronicas and Starco; lots of group-friendly apartmentsCan be noisy; busy at night
Costa AdejeSmarter hotels, beach clubs, short taxi to the stripMore expensive; some hotels do not accept stag groups
Los CristianosCheaper apartments, close to Playa de las AméricasQuieter nightlife on the doorstep

Before booking, check the accommodation’s policy on groups. Many hotels and apartment complexes in the south limit or refuse stag and hen bookings, and some charge security deposits.

Nights out

Starco

A good place to start the night, with sports bars, karaoke and show bars. Watching a match together is a classic first-evening plan. See the Starco guide.

The Veronicas strip

The late-night centre of the island, with clubs open until around 5 or 6am at weekends. Promoters offer drinks deals, and some clubs sell VIP booths or bottle packages for groups. Read the Veronicas strip guide.

Beach clubs and Papagayo

For something a bit more upmarket, beach clubs in Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje offer daybeds and cabanas by day and DJ sessions by night. Papagayo Beach Club, on the seafront in Playa de las Américas, is one of the best-known.

Comedy and drag shows

A drag or comedy show is a good way to give the stag some attention without another club night. Expect audience participation.

Daytime activities

  • Boat parties and catamarans. Booze cruises with drinks, music and a swim stop usually depart from Puerto Colón marina in Costa Adeje. See Tenerife boat trips.
  • Jet skis and watersports. Jet ski safaris, flyboarding and banana boats run from the south coast.
  • Go-karting. There are karting tracks in the south of the island.
  • Quad and buggy tours. Guided trips through volcanic landscapes towards Mount Teide.
  • Siam Park. A big day out for a group, with fast-track options.
  • Fishing charters and private boat hire. Good for smaller groups or a calmer day.
  • Golf. Several courses in the south, including at Golf del Sur and Costa Adeje.

Costs

Prices vary with season and how hard you go, but as a rough guide:

  • Drinks: around 3 to 5 euros for a beer and 5 to 10 euros for a spirit and mixer in bars on the strip; cheaper during happy hours.
  • Taxis: short hops within the south are usually under 10 euros; the trip from Tenerife South airport to Playa de las Américas is typically around 25 to 35 euros.
  • Activities: boat parties, karting and quads are usually priced per person; packages through stag companies bundle several together.

Treat these as estimates and check current prices when booking.

Rules and etiquette

  • No drinking in the street. Public drinking and street parties are not tolerated in residential parts of the south, and police can fine you.
  • Keep shirts on away from the beach. Walking around town in swimwear is frowned upon and not allowed in many bars and shops.
  • Respect closing times and neighbours. Arona council has stepped up inspections in Las Américas after noise complaints.
  • Costumes are fine, but keep them tasteful. Several Spanish resorts have fined groups for obscene inflatables and outfits. Tenerife has not introduced a specific ban, but behaviour in public is policed.
  • Look after the stag. Agree a meeting point, keep phones charged and make sure everyone knows the hotel address.

Safety

Watch drinks, keep passports in the safe, and be wary of street sellers and very cheap “free entry” offers. Use licensed taxis, not unmarked cars. Emergency number: 112.

Planning checklist

  1. Confirm accommodation accepts groups.
  2. Book flights early for weekends and bank holidays.
  3. Pre-book boat parties, karting and any VIP club tables.
  4. Check what time bars close to plan a big night.
  5. Pack ID, sun cream and a spare phone charger.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tenerife good for a stag do?

Yes. Playa de las Américas has late bars and clubs on the Veronicas strip and Starco, the weather is warm all year, and there are plenty of daytime activities, from boat parties to quad bikes on volcanic terrain.

Where should a stag group stay in Tenerife?

Playa de las Américas is the most practical base, within walking distance of Veronicas and Starco. Costa Adeje is smarter and a short taxi ride away. Check that your accommodation accepts groups, as some hotels and apartments do not.

How much does a stag do in Tenerife cost?

Costs depend on flights and accommodation, but on the ground expect roughly 60 to 120 euros per person per day for drinks, food and taxis, plus whatever activities you add. Boat parties and organised packages cost extra.

What are the best stag activities in Tenerife?

Popular choices include catamaran boat parties from Puerto Colón, jet skis and watersports, go-karting, quad biking near Mount Teide, beach club days and a guided bar crawl.

Are there rules for stag parties in Tenerife?

There is no Tenerife-specific stag ban, but general laws on street drinking, public nudity and noise apply, and local police patrol the nightlife areas. Keep drinks inside bars, wear tops away from the beach and keep noise down near homes.
