The Veronicas Strip, Playa de las Américas: What to Expect

Updated 29 October 2026 · DoTenerife

The Veronicas strip is Tenerife’s main late-night clubbing area, a row of bars and clubs in Playa de las Américas that gets going after midnight and typically runs until around 5 or 6am at weekends. It attracts a young, international crowd, plus plenty of stag and hen groups, and is the place to go if you want to dance rather than watch a show.

If you would rather see a singer or tribute act, the bars of Starco across the road, or the show venues of San Eugenio and Los Cristianos, are a better fit. Use what’s on tonight to see who is performing.

Where it is

“Veronicas” refers to a string of commercial centres sitting between the seafront promenade and Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, near the southern end of Playa de las Américas. The bars and clubs face onto a pedestrian walkway, so you can wander from one to the next. On the opposite side of the main road is the Starco centre, and an underpass links the two. Many people start at Starco and cross to Veronicas later. Read our Starco guide for that side of the road.

Most hotels in Playa de las Américas and the edge of Costa Adeje are within walking distance. From Los Cristianos it is a 25 to 40 minute walk along the promenade, or a short taxi ride.

What the night looks like

TimeWhat is happening
9pm–11pmQuiet. Some bars open with happy hours; promoters start working the walkway
11pm–1amBars fill up, music gets louder, groups gather
1am–4amPeak hours in the clubs, especially at weekends
4am–6amClubs thin out; the hardcore stay on

Music is mostly commercial: chart dance, R&B, hip hop, reggaeton and party anthems. Do not expect underground techno or a big-name DJ every night; the strip is about atmosphere and drinks deals more than headliners.

Promoters and drinks deals

The walkway is lined with promoters offering free shots, buy-one-get-one-free deals or free entry. These can be good value, but:

  • Agree what is included before you sit down. “Free” sometimes means one shot after you buy a round.
  • Check prices on the menu, not just what you are told at the door.
  • Keep an eye on your bill and pay as you go rather than running a tab.

Drink prices vary a lot. As a rough guide, expect around 3 to 6 euros for a beer and around 6 to 10 euros for a spirit and mixer, with shots and deals cheaper and bottle service much more. Prices change, so treat these figures as approximate.

Who goes

Veronicas is busiest with visitors aged roughly 18 to 35. In school holidays and around Easter it can feel very young. Groups on stag dos and hen dos are common, particularly at weekends. Over-30s who want a late finish often start on the strip and then move to a quieter cocktail bar in Costa Adeje.

Rules, licences and policing

Arona council and the Local Police carry out regular inspections in Playa de las Américas. In 2025 police closed two unlicensed nightlife venues in the Veronicas area after finding safety and licensing breaches, and the council began further night-time inspections of music venues in Las Américas in 2026. In practice this means:

  • Venues can close or change hands quickly, so a club you remember from a previous trip may have gone.
  • Drinking in the street and street parties are not tolerated by residents or police in parts of the south. Keep drinks inside bars.
  • Police have seized nitrous oxide canisters and balloons in raids on the strip. Steer clear of anyone selling them.

Staying safe on Veronicas

  • Watch your drink and do not accept drinks from strangers.
  • Carry a photocopy or photo of your passport and keep the original in the hotel safe, unless you need it for a specific venue.
  • Pickpockets work crowded areas. Use a front pocket or zipped bag.
  • Be cautious of people offering flowers, massages or “lucky” trinkets late at night; they are often a distraction.
  • Use licensed taxis from the ranks rather than unmarked cars.
  • In an emergency, call 112.
